What is the Run Allocation Rule tool used for?
Allocation rules are used to determine which person, user or team should be assigned to a particular role in a given circumstances. They can be used specifically for allocating work e.g. looking at the work type and determining which team a piece of work needs to be assigned to. They can however be used outside of allocation to assign any kind of participant.

Pre-Requisites
- Allocation rule has been set up.
- Workitem ID you want to run the rule against has been stored to a variable.
Configuration
Action Name | A descriptive name for the action indicating the purpose of it. |
Run rule against work item | The work item id you wish to run the rule against. |
Rule to run | The name of the allocation rule you wish to run. |
Store ODS Id from rule in | The variable to store the returned ODS ID to (the ID of the person, team or organisation). |
