Action plan choice branch - Workflow Toolbox

The Action plan choice branch toolbox item provides the ability to branch a workflow, based on the user's selection on a 'Choices' action plan on a task.

Common Uses

This could be used for a simple choice question, e.g. Yes/No but is often used for more complex scenarios, such as used in the example below where the choice is whether to use their own investigator or not, and the next step varies depending on the user's selection.

Pre-requisites

Task with 'Choices' action plan configured -  in order to use the Action plan choice branch toolbox, you firstly require a Task with a 'Choices' action plan configured.

Choices Action plan ID - you will need to have captured the the Action plan ID as a variable in order to assign it to your Action plan choice branch toolbox item.

Step - to use this item form the toolbox you will need to have a step on your canvas into which to drag it

Configuring Action plan choice branch

1. Click on the toolbox tab of your workflow canvas

2. Select the Action plan choice branch option and drag onto the step in which you wish to place it (this must be after your pre-configured task containing a 'Choices' action plan)

3. Click on the Action plan choice branch item you have dragged onto the canvas to add in the configuration

4. Enter in the configuration for the toolbox item

Action Name Give the action a name e.g. "Evaluate Inspection Choice" (in the below example the step was given this name instead).

Select the variable in which the Action plan ID is captured

Condition List

These are the choice conditions in which you want to use at outlets for this step.

Tip: Click the Replace conditions from action plan step definition button above and this will copy the values in from your initial task configuration.
