When an email is received into a monitored email address, ShareDo will perform a number of actions (this is often described as a "pipeline") including:
- Extract metadata from the email and create a ShareDo email.
- Filing the attachments and the email body into the configured Document Management System (DMS).
- Running allocation rules to assign an owner to the email.
- Running matching rules to assign the email to the relevant case or work item.
- Running matching rules to assign the email to the relevant Document Expectation.
Given the many steps involved, a certain amount of monitoring and tuning will be required to optimise your users' experience.
For more information on setting up ShareDo email boxes, please see Configuring Email Monitoring.
Underpinning this processing are a number of event engine roles - see Diagnostics: Monitor Event Engine health, which performs different elements of the email processing pipeline, the overall result of which can be viewed in the Incoming Email diagnostics screen.
Inbound Email Diagnostics
Within the Admin / Diagnostics area of the application, there is a screen that enables you to track the receipt of inbound emails.

From this screen, you can:
- Filter emails to find a specific email or review errors.
- If an email has been created, then open the ShareDo email and review its contents.
- Review the audit log to understand the processing logic that has been applied.
