v7.7.0 and later
Instead of creating document templates from scratch, you can clone existing templates and pack contents using the Clone button in the ribbon menu of an opened template. To find the template you wish to clone, navigate to Launchpad > Open Document Admin > Document Templates and browse or filter the list view to find the template you wish to clone. Click on it to open the template blade, and click Clone.

Clone
Clicking Clone allows you to clone just the template, or the template and pack contents.

Clone template
When you click Clone template, the system makes a copy of the template. It appends “Copy of” to the name, system name, and description while maintaining all other configurations—the template's categories and option sets, for instance. It's optional, but changing the name to something appropriate is a good idea.
For details on the template configuration, see the article Creating a Template.
Clone template and pack documents
Selecting this option opens the Clone template blade that contains the following sections:
Section | Description |
---|---|
Details of the Cloned template | This is the cloned template's name, system name, and description. Changing the Name will update the System Name. |
Pack contents |
The contents of the pack.
|
As attachments and exclosures are static resources, they are not copied but attached at the appropriate time. |
File names may not contain illegal characters such as %$&. Entering a file name with illegal characters will raise an error.
Once you've made the necessary changes and choices, click Confirm to clone the template and pack contents.

The Edit Document Template blade is opened, and you can check and edit the template configuration as needed.
