Chronology

Chronology provides the story of a work type. It includes key events such as communications being sent and received, information being updated, and documents being modified, among others. It provides users with the capability to filter and sort through the history of a work type using various facets.

Feature Configuration

Access this global feature at LaunchpadModeller Global features. Search for chronology.

This feature allows you to select (for certain work types) the phases which will create a chronology entry. For example, an Offer work type that is set to received may create a chronology entry.

This configuration allows you to specify which Chronology POIs are active and, where applicable, which work types and phases they are defined for.

Customising your chronology

You can now create your own derived chronology handlers in ShareDo to filter by Points of Interest that are specific to your requirements.

  1. Modeller > Global Features > Chronology > '+' button in the top corner of the Chronology blade.
  2. Choose your chronology base type.
  3. Populate the required fields on the Add Chronology POI blade.
  4. Save.
  5. Click on the Sharedo type configuration navigation bar that should now be enabled at the bottom of your Edit Chronology POI blade.
  6. You can now define the work type for which you want your new chronology handler to be enabled.
  7. Click on the > arrow against each work type to apply the relevant configuration.
  8. Save any changes.
  9. Note that new custom chronology entries must be enabled in the Chronology widget within the Portal Designer for the selected work types. To do this, open Modeller and navigate to the work type.
  10. Select Portal Designer from the left-hand menu and open the appropriate page in Design mode.
  11. Edit the Chronology widget.
  12. Enable the new Custom Chronology under the Points of Interest menu.
  13. Tick the checkbox to the left of the new Custom POI entry.
  14. Save the changes.
  15. Your new chronology handler will now be available in the POI's of the L/H chronology menu and the chronology widget on your work type.

Chronology Widget Configuration

To configure a chronology widget, go to a portal designer and add a chronology widget:

Alongside the standard filter config settings, there are 3 additional actions that can be configured for chronology entries:

Can Open Work Items If enabled, a user can click on a chronology entry and it will open the work item in a blade.
Can Open Documents If enabled, a user can click on a chronology entry and it will allow them to preview a document (if the entry is related to a document action).
Can Comment

If enabled, a user can comment on a chronology action:
