Use this feature to configure the Competency Types available to user profiles in the system. For more information on using Competencies in ShareDo, see the article Defining Competencies.
You can find the Competencies Global Feature at Launchpad > Modeller > Global features > People, Orgs, and places > Competencies or through the Admin page.

Configure competency types
Permissions control the ability to edit or read competencies. When competencies are enabled on your platform, only users assigned to the ACL System Administrators permission set can access them. To enable other users to edit competencies, you can assign the following permissions via a permission set.
- ODS - Competencies - Edit: Can edit or assign competencies assigned to ODS Entities.
- ODS - Competencies - Read: Can read competencies assigned to ODS Entities.

Use the + Add Type button to create a new type, or edit an existing type by clicking the > icon next to it.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Details | A unique system name, a name, and an icon are required. A description is optional. Use the toggle switch to set the type as active or not. |
| Competency Usage |
Specify the circumstances in which this competency is relevant in terms of ODS Entities and Party Types. In other words, to what ODS Entities and Party Types can this competency be assigned? You must also select the type of entity to which the competency is available in the system. If you don't add that here, you won't be able to see the competency to assign it to the entity. In the image above, the General Expert Specialisms competency type is relevant to Users of type System Administrator. So you can assign this competency to users who are System Administrators elsewhere in the system. |
| Users | Specify the user types for which this competency is relevant. |
| People | Specify the Party Types for which this competency is relevant. You would use this to set a particular person (ODS Entity) to have the competency of Cardiologist within the Medical Expert Specialisms competency type. Or set a person as having payment authority within the Finacial Authority competency type. |
| Organisations | Specify the Party Types for which this competency is relevant. |
| Teams | Specify where the team is of these types. |
