Overview of the Competencies Feature
The Competencies feature in ShareDo provides a framework for assessing the ability of users, teams, or organisations to perform specific tasks or actions. This versatile feature can be applied across various industries and specialisations to evaluate skills and expertise.
Examples of Competencies
- General Expert Competencies: Such as expertise in home care.
- Industry-Specific Competencies: For example, expert medical specialisations.
Use Cases of Competencies in ShareDo
-
Searching for Users/Organisations
Competencies can be used to filter search results. For instance, users or organisations can be searched based on their competencies, and additional facets like location can be applied to refine the search. -
Approval Models
Competencies can be used as part of approval models, enabling auto-approval if a person possesses a certain competency. -
Allocation Rules
Competencies can be used as a condition when assigning tasks or work, such as allocating work to a person with a specific skill. -
Authority Limits
Authority Limits can reference competencies; for example, the financial value associated with a competency is £5000. -
Templates
Templates reference them; individuals with certain competencies may bypass approval processes, indicating their authority and expertise in that area.
Overall, the Competencies feature can affect authority limits, approval models, task allocation and more within ShareDo, making it a valuable tool for matching skills and qualifications to specific items.
Configuring Competencies
Within the Global Feature framework, you will find a Competencies feature. Use this feature to configure the Competency Types available in the system and target them at specific ODS entities and Party Types. For more information, see the article Competencies in Global Features.
Once types are defined, you can create individual competencies within those types using the admin portal.
For new competencies, provide a unique system name, a name, and a description. These three items are required. Also, select which competency type this new competency belongs to. Click Save & Close to continue.
Permissions control the ability to edit or read competencies. When competencies are enabled on your platform, only users assigned to the ACL System Administrators permission set will be able to access them. To enable editing competencies for other users, you can assign the following permissions to them via a permission set.
- ODS - Competencies - Edit: Can edit or assign competencies assigned to ODS Entities.
- ODS - Competencies - Read: Can read competencies assigned to ODS Entities.
User Profiles
Depending upon your competencies settings, they will be visible as nav bars from users, people, or organisations. For more information, see the article User Management.
The navigation (nav) bar shows how many competencies (i.e. skills or specialisms) the current participant has. Click to open the blade and view them. | ![]() |
