Configure Data Capture for a Work type

You can configure data capture for a work item from the sharedo Modeller.

Key Facts Blade

All work types have a key facts data capture blade. Here is an example of what the blade looks like.

Adding Data Capture to the Work Type Key Facts Blade

To use your work type, you must add different sections, navigation bars and menus to the work type key facts blade. To configure the key facts blade, take the following steps:

  1. Select Launchpad > Modeller > Work Types.
  2. Select the work type you wish to work on.

If you have a large number of work types, you can use the search box at the top of the screen to filter the list.

  3. On the work type general setting page, click the Aspects button at the top right-hand side of the page.

If you have created your work type as a child of another work type, you can use the copy from parent button to quickly copy the same aspects that appear on the parent. This speeds up the process, even if the final content differs.

  4. Add in your chosen data capture elements.
Data Capture Type Description
Aspects

Adding aspects to your blade allows you to add configurable out-of-the-box data capture elements.

The sample aspect below captures property details for a work type involving a house sale. You can display aspects inline like this one or on navigation bars that pop out their own blade.

Custom Data Capture (form builder)

Use the ShareDo form builder to create custom data capture forms, then add them to your key facts blade using the special form builder aspect.

Key Dates

Key dates are, in fact, work types themselves. They can be used for capturing and tracking important dates for your work.

  1. Click Save.

Work Type Portal

For larger, more complex work types, you can configure a portal. A portal displays a full-screen view of the work type and can contain many layers of navigation and information.

Work type portals are configured using the portal designer.

For more information on how to configure a portal, see the article about creating and configuring portals.
