You must grant role permissions to user roles to allow them to contribute and read work types. If no users have read permissions for the work type, the Sharedo type advisor displays the following error:
You can grant role permissions for a work type from the sharedo Modeller. The steps to resolve this issue are as follows:
- Select Launchpad > Modeller > Work type modeller > select your work type and double click to open.
- Click the Participant Roles option on the left-hand menu.
- The participant role work type portal opens.
If you are creating a new work type that is not a derived type, you must create a participant role on your work type before you can set permissions.
- Select the burger menu
for the role you wish to edit.
- Select Manage permissions from the burger menu options. Use the toggle switches to grant the relevant permissions for the selected role on the selected work type.
Role permissions can be varied by phase - frequently used when external parties are initiating work.
- Once you have added the required items, click Save.
- Repeat the step above to add permissions to each role.
Use the copy permissions from [parent] option from the role burger menu to quickly copy the same permissions for the role from the parent work type.
Review
You have now added role permissions to your work type, and users in appropriate roles with the right global permissions can interact with the work type. For more on sharedo permissions and security, see the Global Permissions and Role-based Permissions.
To ensure that users can contribute and read the work type, you must ensure that the Sharedo role permissions are set on the work type.
