You can create a new work item from the sharedo Modeller. This article covers creating a work type and provides links to the associated configurations for a new or existing work type. You can create work items as top-level items or derived types. A derived type inherits key features from its parent that help to speed up the process.

1. Select Launchpad > Modeller > Work Type Modeller.
2. Select the work type you want as the parent type.
3. Follow one of the options below to get started:
   • Click the burger menu and select Create derived type.        
     
   • Click the Add new icon on the Work Type Modeller banner.        
     
4. Enter the new work type details. Work type icons are used throughout the application, so choose a Fontawesome icon appropriate for the type of work.

5. The category option set links to the list of sub-types for your work. Create an Option Set.
6. The inherit section lets you choose what should be copied for your derived type. 

7. Click Save.

Review

You have successfully created a work type. The work type configuration portal opens. To use your work type, you must fix any critical issues listed by the work type modeller, for example, granting create permissions.
